Thole Marr was founded in Zürich in 1998 by Ida Thole and Jonas Marr. A second studio opened in Leipzig in 2011, next to the printer we still use.

Geschichte
Our story
da Thole and Jonas Marr met at a printing school in Basel. They agreed on one thing: a page is a promise, and the grid is how you keep it.
The studio has stayed small on purpose. Eight people design, draw and set type; two producers keep the deadlines. Every project is led by a partner from the first meeting to the press check.
We work for museums, publishers, food producers, transport authorities and a few brave start-ups. What they share is that they read closely, and so do we.

Timeline
Twenty-eight years, in six lines.
Studio founded in a Zürich attic. First job: a bakery price list.
First full identity, for a brass foundry that still uses it.
Katja Wendl joins and takes over the grid files.
Second studio opens in Leipzig, next to the press.
