The same letters look different on uncoated, coated and recycled stock. We choose the paper first.

The note
First
A page starts with the paper. The paper decides how much ink gain we can expect, how sharp a hairline will stay, whether a Fraktur counter will fill in.
Second
We order sample sheets before we draw anything. They live on the studio wall.
Third
Then the layout adjusts to the sheet.
